About the Artists
Kira Freije
Kira Freije (b.1985) is a British artist based in London. She presents her first major solo exhibition in the UK, Unspeak The Chorus, featuring a new body of work commissioned by Modern Art Oxford and The Hepworth Wakefield. Freije creates immersive installations using welded steel, cast hands and feet, textiles and found materials, arranging life-size human and animal figures in emotionally charged groupings that explore kinship, vulnerability and companionship.
Olivia Plender
Olivia Plender (b.1977, London) is an artist based in Stockholm and London. Her multidisciplinary, research-led practice explores women’s healthcare, feminist and queer histories, and the politics of knowledge. For Little Fennel’s Complaint, she brings together paintings, textiles, historic manuscripts and sound to examine how women’s bodies have been understood and misrepresented from the 15th century to today.
