The Studio
The Studio at Modern Art Oxford is a welcoming, free creative space where visitors of all ages can explore contemporary art through creative exploration, play and imagination. The Studio offers drop‑in art activities inspired by our exhibitions, designed to encourage curiosity, creativity and confidence.
Whether you’re visiting with children, as a family, with a school group, or on your own, the Studio is a place to slow down, experiment and reflect.
Whats on
Open throughout Suzanne Treister: Prophetic Dreaming, the Studio offers visitors of all ages the opportunity to further explore the themes in the exhibition.
Drawing on Treister’s long-standing exploration of new technologies, society, alternative belief systems and possible futures for humanity, visitors are invited to explore ideas through making, storytelling and shared activity. Dress up, create an alter ego, make your own tarot card and imagine the future together!
Collective Tarot Cards
Contribute to a collective tarot deck created in The Studio. Large blank cards are available for participants to design their own tarot imagery and add it to a growing shared deck.
Visitors can perform their own readings, exploring unexpected connections between cards and reflecting on the past, present and possible futures.
Costumes, Alter Egos and World-Building
Create your own costume inspired by Suzanne Treister’s time-travelling alter ego, Rosalind Brodsky. A wide range of materials is available to make, wear, photograph or leave your costume in the space for others to discover.
Activity Sheet
Designed for our young visitors, the Activity Sheet invites children to explore Tresiter’s exhibition in depth. Perfect for individual visitors, families, and school groups, it encourages creativity and curiosity throughout the gallery.
