Join our free Thursday evening Young Creatives Socials for ages 16-18, where you can connect with other young people, work with professional artists, and discover your own creativity in a relaxed, fun environment.
In this session:
Studio Workshop with artists Katrina and Luca Dayanc
Katrina and Luca Dayanc are queer and neurodiverse artists who question our understanding of utility through their exploration of the ornamental. Whilst ornamentation is often considered excessive, useless, wasteful or pointless, this experimental workshop will unleash the power of campy excess. You will use your own discarded objects to create and question what ornamentation might be, and where it can take us.
– Explore self-expression: Discover how to challenge traditional ideas of utility and embrace the creativity of ornamentation and excess.
– Learn from artists: Work with Katrina and Luca Dayanc, whose work was recently showcased in our Ground Floor Gallery.
– Hands-on creativity: Use your own discarded objects to transform the seemingly useless into something imaginative and meaningful.
– Develop your artistic voice: Experiment with new ideas and materials in a supportive and dynamic environment.
– Connect with peers: Collaborate and share ideas with like-minded creatives.
Please remember to bring your own discarded objects for this workshop. Suggestions include spoons, pots, books, old clothes, etc.
