Activating our Archives is a group research project led by artist and researcher Sunil Shah bringing together Oxfordshire communities to build an online archive through the use of photographs, films, digital images and archives.
The project takes place at Modern Art Oxford and Fusion Arts, a charity based at East Oxford Community Centre that connects artists and communities with creative projects.
Over a series of workshops led by artist and curator Sunil Shah, the participants work collaboratively to explore photography and curation to consider the ways we tell stories and present images in the physical and digital space. Now in its third year, Activating our Archives takes the theme of Protest and Play, looking at forms of protest and expressions of play through the use of photographs, film, images and archives.
The group continue to share work and ideas, and individual projects continue to emerge via a series of Instagram takeovers on the Modern Art Oxford and Fusion Arts accounts. Follow the project on Instagram using the hashtag #ActivatingOurArchives.
