David Goldblatt
Internationally acclaimed for his photography which explores public and private life in South Africa, David Goldblatt’s (b. 1930 – 2018) edition for Modern Art Oxford was originally produced to accompany his 2003 exhibition Fifty-One Years, which documented the social, personal and political upheavals in the history of South Africa, from the 1950s to the present day, through photography and film.
R.B. Kitaj
Ronald Brooks Kitaj (1932–2007) was an American artist known for his expressive, figurative works that merge the collage techniques of Pop Art with the emotive gestural style of Abstract Expressionism. This edition by Kitaj is a portrait of an unknown sitter called Mary Ann and was generously created by the artist to support the Museum of Modern Art Oxford’s Building Appeal in the early 1980s.
