This week, Modern Art Oxford hosted a charity auction of contemporary art, in collaboration with Bonhams, one of the world’s largest auctioneers of fine art.
A selection of nineteen works by some of the most important figures working in contemporary art were donated and auctioned to benefit Modern Art Oxford at the Bonhams’ Post War & Contemporary Art sale, London on 8 March 2017.
Internationally renowned artists including Marina Abramović, Tracey Emin, Mona Hatoum, Howard Hodgkin, Anish Kapoor and Yoko Ono donated works to the charity auction, which raised over £300,000. The proceeds will lay the foundations for Modern Art Oxford’s programme in the coming years.
Director, Paul Hobson, said, “After celebrating our 50th anniversary in 2016, this important sale of donated artworks has provided us with significant financial support for the gallery’s artistic programme. We are so grateful to Bonhams and the participating artists and their galleries, who have made such a generous contribution through this event to our continued artistic ambition and vitality.”
