We are looking for 8 individuals aged 16-19 to join the Modern Art Oxford Young Creatives.
Interested in a career in the arts? Want to learn more about how an arts organisation is run?
This year’s Young Creatives will meet monthly throughout 2022 as part of City as Studio, our artist-led project for young people living in Oxfordshire.
During your time at Modern Art Oxford, you will gain experience of working directly with professional artists and arts professionals who will help shape your ideas into public events and creative projects for the Modern Art Oxford programme.
What does being a Modern Art Oxford Young Creative involve?
Throughout the year, you will work alongside guest artists, Modern Art Oxford colleagues, and other Young Creatives to co-curate a mini-programme including 2 public events, a pop-up exhibition and digital content for our new MAO Studio.
We are asking each applicant to commit to a period of 12 months, during which there will be 11 Saturday sessions and two public events.
As a Modern Art Oxford Young Creative, you will receive:
- Mentoring throughout the year from the Modern Art Oxford team
- Experience working with professional artists
- A travel budget to cover your journey to and from the gallery
- A materials budget for creative projects and events
- Free admission to Modern Art Oxford’s paid exhibitions and events
- 10% discount in the Modern Art Oxford Shop and Café
Session dates for Young Creatives
The sessions will take place on the third Saturday of every month, starting on Saturday 19 February 2022. There will be a final session on the evening of Friday 9 December 2022. All sessions will take place at Modern Art Oxford in the Creative Space, 11am-1pm, except for the final session.
Modern Art Oxford is committed to ensuring we have a public programme that reflects the diversity of our audiences, and we know that working with people from a range of backgrounds is vital for the work we do across our organisation.
For all opportunities at Modern Art Oxford, we particularly welcome hearing from members of the global majority and people with disabilities. Expressions of interest from these groups will be guaranteed a place.
It’s hugely important to us that everyone on the project feels fully supported and cared for. We understand that support means different things to everyone, and that everyone has individual needs. For this reason, this opportunity includes a 1:1 chat with a member of our team to answer any questions and help to ensure our spaces are as comfortable for you as possible.
