Wythamscapes: People, Place and Nature

In July 2018, musicians Eric Clarke, Bruno Guastalla, Melissa Holding and Julian Masters spent a sunny weekend making music and recording the sounds of Oxford University owned, Wytham Woods. One of the most researched areas of woodland in the world, Wytham Woods has recently become a site of art making and experimentation as part of Future Knowledge, our current exhibition exploring creative responses to climate change.

Live at Modern Art Oxford on the evening of Thursday 11 October, the musicians performed Wythamscapes, their resulting sound installation exploring relationships between people, sound, place and nature by juxtaposing a 24-hour cycle of the sounds of the woods with discrete episodes of sound and music.
