On 10 March 2022, Dr. Giulia Smith joined us at the gallery to discuss artist Jesse Darling’s signature aesthetic of debility and vulnerability.

This recorded talk was held on the occasion of Darling’s major exhibition at Modern Art Oxford, No Medals No Ribbons (5 March – 1 May 2022). Giulia Smith delves into the political and ecological implications of the artist’s distinctive sculptural practice, including in relation to Darling’s choice of objects and materials and the family history which inspired the exhibition’s title.
