Shop Showcase: Carly Hitchens

As part of our ongoing showcase of contemporary crafts, the Modern Art Oxford shop presents jeweller Carly Hitchens.

Hitchens is a Cornish designer who makes use of her surroundings to inspire unique pieces of handmade jewellery. Recurrent themes in her work include architectural influences and the mining and minerals of Cornwall. The influence of Art Deco and contemporary architecture is apparent in Hitchens’ work, with inspiration also taken from the structure, lines and angles of rocks and minerals.

Within her work Hitchens incorporates faceted stones to add detail and colour. Her pieces are made using sterling silver square wire and sheet to create contemporary and delicate, yet very wearable jewellery.
